Social Thematic Study: The situation of Roma in the EU (Belgium)
Social Thematic Study: The situation of Roma in the EU (Ireland)
In 2012, the FRA published first survey results on the situation of Roma in 11 EU Member States. Via the request of the European Commission, the FRA expanded its survey to collect data and information for the remaining Member States. Milieu carried out the research for Belgium and ireland.
The objective of the research was to provide the FRA with specific data and factual information on the situation of Roma and the main issues that affected them in Belgium and Ireland, for the reference period 2006 – 2012.
The main thematic areas included: education, housing/neighbourhood, employment, health, poverty/economic situation, active citizenship/rights awareness.
To carry out this task, Milieu collected and analysed quantitative and qualitative data as well as identified major research initiatives and projects that have involved Roma.
By preparing this report, Milieu contributed to the FRA’s effort in monitoring and assisting EU-wide efforts to implement the EU’s plan for Roma integration. More information available on the FRA’s website.
