Gonçalo Moreira holds a law degree from the Universidade Catolica in Portugal and a LLM in International and European law, specialsing in public international law, from the Universiteit van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. He wrote his master’s thesis on the protection of the environment through human rights law.
Gonçalo joined Milieu in February 2013. Before that, he spent about a year working for the European Commission at the Directorate-General for Justice, first as a bluebook trainee and then as an intérimaire, where he dealt with topics such as European judicial training, e-justice and environmental criminal law. Gonçalo qualified as Portuguese lawyer, having worked for two major Portuguese law firms, mainly in the area of administrative, environmental and water law. He has also worked as a legal and research intern for non-governmental organisations in Portugal and in the UK, focusing primarily in human rights law and equality law.
In 2015 Gonçalo Moreira relocated to Pragha but has continued to collaborate extensively with Milieu on projects related to Environmental law and Justice & Fundamental Rights.
