Matthew Geraci is a Canadian national working as an Advisor at Milieu. He holds an MSc in Public Policy and Human Development with a specialisation in Social Protection Policy from Maastricht University and United Nations University (double degree). Matthew has several years of experience working directly with Canadian elected officials and government departments at the provincial and national level.

Prior to joining Milieu, Matthew was a Senior Advisor for Policy and Regional Affairs to Canada’s federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change from 2018 to 2021. In this role, he advanced the government’s national freshwater policy objectives and managed several environmental policy files impacting the province of Ontario. In 2017, he was a Legislative Assistant and Issues Manager to the Province of Ontario’s Minister of Seniors Affairs, developing communication strategies in response to emergent issues concerning the Ministry’s policy portfolio.

Throughout his professional career, Matthew has gained knowledge and experience in a wide range of climate and environmental policies, and provided policy advice and recommendations to elected officials, including cabinet ministers. During his graduate studies at Maastricht University, Matthew became proficient in Stata for the purpose of utilising econometric techniques and various quantitative policy analysis methods, such as cross-country multivariate regression, propensity score matching, multidimensional indicators, and micro-simulations of government programs.
