Anne Schmieman is a Dutch national who joined Milieu in March 2024 as a legal trainee, and now works as legal researcher. With an LL.M. in European Law from Leiden University, Anne’s background reflects a multifaceted understanding of legal intricacies. Her tenure as Blue Book Trainee at the European Commission’s DG GROW, Green and Circular Economy Unit, where she actively contributed to policy negotiations, has honed her ability to navigate complex environmental frameworks. Additionally, Anne’s focus on migration law and policy during her academic pursuits, complemented by specialised training from the Odysseus Migration and Asylum Summer School, underscores her commitment to addressing human rights’ challenges.

Her previous internships helped to refine her skills in legal research, analysis, and drafting. Beyond her legal endeavours, Anne co-founded a company which is dedicated to transforming discarded objects into sustainable lamps, showcasing her commitment to sustainable innovation. Altogether, Anne brings a unique blend of knowledge and expertise to her role at Milieu.

Anne is proficient in Dutch and English, with a basic understanding of French.
