Ukrainian Crisis

According to UNHCR data, since 24 February 2022, over four million Ukrainians have crossed borders into neighbouring countries seeking safety, protection and assistance there. According to the Hungarian Government, by 5 April 2022, almost 400 000 people have entered Hungary. FRA’s first field observation at the Hungarian, Polish, Romanian and Slovak borders with Ukraine and Moldova warned that people escaping the conflict in Ukraine might be at the high risk of human trafficking, discrimination, racism, etc. FRA has requested the Hungarian FRANET Team, led by Milieu consulting, to observe how Hungary addresses potential fundamental rights challenges during this humanitarian crisis. To this end, the HU FRANET Teams provides the FRA with weekly reports on the matter.
