Research at EU level has shown that migrant workers are often exposed to a higher risk of labour exploitation and non-compliance by employers with the applicable working conditions and health and safety standards.

In this project, Milieu will develop a practical manual for trainers responsible for the training of future or appointed labour inspectors and inspection authorities of other monitoring bodies (e.g. health and safety, tax, social security). Using innovative training tools such as quizzes, case studies, illustrative examples, knowledge tests, role play and others the training manual will take an interactive approach explaining the existing safeguards set up in EU law, namely the Employer Sanctions Directive, the Seasonal Workers Directive and, where relevant, the Single Permit Directive. It will also cover the key concepts of labour exploitation, victims’ rights and referral, EU asylum law, confidentiality and data protection and cross-border coordination and cooperation, among others.
