Investigation on Legally Binding Elements in Support of the Global Post 2020 Regime for Chemicals and Waste

A video featuring Milieu’s founder, Gretta Goldenman, is being sent to officials around the world in preparation for a UN-sponsored meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay next month on the future of global chemicals policy. The video introduces Milieu’s report entitled Investigation on Legally Binding Elements in Support of the Global Post 2020 Regime for Chemicals and Waste. Drawing from the experiences gained in negotiating the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the report proposes a hybrid approach that would combine legally binding elements with a continuation of the current voluntary SAICM* regime. The report was prepared for a group of Nordic civil society organisations. Co-authors include Baskut Tuncak, Ralph Bodle, Florent Pelsy and Sarah O’Brien.
