Milieu to Lead New FRA Study on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive

Milieu Consulting has been selected by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) to carry out an in-depth study on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). This directive, recently adopted by the EU, aims to establish binding due diligence obligations for companies to align their operations with human rights and environmental standards.

The study will play a key role in supporting FRA’s responsibilities under Article 19 of the CSDDD, which tasks the Agency with contributing to the interpretation and practical application of the Directive across EU Member States. Milieu’s work will provide legal clarity on essential concepts within the CSDDD, identify gaps and inconsistencies with existing legal frameworks, and propose strategies for effective implementation.

This analysis will not only ensure coherence with national and EU legislation but also assess how the Directive aligns with international frameworks, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

By undertaking this study, Milieu will contribute to building a strong foundation for the CSDDD’s operationalisation, offering guidance that promotes accountability, legal certainty, and respect for fundamental rights within the corporate sector.
