Milieu is launching a new research project to collect data on selected aspects of climate and environmental law and policy in Hungary. The work will examine how key climate and environmental obligations interact with human rights obligations and impacts, including through the identification of relevant case law.
The research will support the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights’ upcoming paper on the climate change, environment and human rights nexus, planned for publication in mid-2026. It will also inform FRA work under Article 19 of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and contribute to wider FRA activities on climate and sustainability in 2026 and beyond.
By mapping existing approaches and highlighting potential gaps in protection, the project aims to strengthen understanding of how climate action and environmental protection can be pursued in full consistency with fundamental rights.
