Milieu is pleased to share its contribution to the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) study on PFAS National Action Plans: Uneven Protection Across Europe.
PFAS — often referred to as “forever chemicals” — are found in water, soil, and everyday products, posing long-term risks to human health and the environment. These persistent substances are increasingly under scrutiny at both EU and national levels.
As part of the study, Milieu conducted a comprehensive mapping of how EU Member States address PFAS pollution through national action plans and legislation. The analysis reveals substantial variation between countries in the level of priority given to PFAS and in the scope of measures adopted. In most cases, national approaches remain within the limits of EU legislation, highlighting the need for more ambitious and harmonised action across Europe.
