Milieu has been awarded a project to assess the transposition of Directive (EU) 2024/1619 (Capital Requirements Directive VI, or CRD VI) for the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA).
CRD VI is the sixth revision of the Capital Requirements Directive, the core EU framework for the authorisation and prudential supervision of banks and investment firms. It amends Directive 2013/36/EU on access to the activity of credit institutions and the prudential supervision of credit institutions and investment firms, and further harmonises the EU banking supervision framework.
The Directive strengthens the supervisory powers and independence of national authorities. It also introduces a new framework for the management of third-country branches of credit institutions, as well as further considerations on the governance of ESG risks in the financial sector.
With the support of its network of national experts, Milieu will assess the conformity of national transpositions of the Directive across all EU Member States.
The findings will support the European Commission in identifying potential inconsistencies and, where necessary, pursuing infringement proceedings.
