Jūlija Sproģe is a Latvian national, who joined Milieu in August 2016 as a Legal Advisor. Her main areas of expertise include financial services and banking regulation, criminal law, internal market and consumer protection law, justice and home affairs, transport and energy law, climate change law, patients’ rights and IP rights.

Prior to joining Milieu, Julija spent over seven years in a Brussels-based consultancy, where she coordinated projects relevant to the quality of EU legislation drafting for the Legal Service of the European Commission. She was also responsible for compliance assessment/coordination of several projects for a number of Directorate Generals of the Commission including: DG FISMA, DG GROW, DG HOME, DG MOVE, DG ENER, DG CONNECT, DG CLIMA, DG SANCO, DG JUST and DG MOVE.

Julija also worked as lobbyist for a Brussels-based umbrella organisation, where she legally advised members in the areas of employment and social affairs, taxation, intellectual property and copyright, state aid, health and safety, radio spectrum and internal market.

She also worked for the College of Europe Development Office, where she provided consultancy services to the Legal Service of the European Commission.

She was also a trainee at the Presidency, Coordination and Planning Division of the European Parliament.

Julija holds a Master’s degree in Law from Riga Stradina University (Latvia) and Master’s degree in European Studies from Aalborg University (Denmark).
