Manuel Mota is a Portuguese qualified lawyer. He joined Milieu as a Researcher in March 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from the University of Lisbon and a Master of Law (LL.M.) in European Private Law from the University of Amsterdam.

Prior to joining Milieu, Mr. Mota worked at a major Portuguese law firm as a trainee lawyer and, after his approval in the state Bar exams, as an Associate lawyer. His work focused on various legal fields, such as litigation, banking law, insurance law, etc. He then joined a management firm based in Lisbon, where he worked at the legal department as a lawyer and legal advisor on public law and tenders, labor law, corporate law, etc.

Mr. Mota is deeply interested in EU law and particularly environmental/climate policy. He acquired a good grasp on these topics after moving to Brussels in October 2021, to complete a blue book traineeship at the European Commission’s DG Clima. He is fluent in Portuguese and English and has a good command of Spanish.
