Matthew Jones is a British national who joined Milieu Ltd as a Policy Researcher in March 2018.
Mr Jones holds a Master's degree in European Studies from the Sorbonne University in Paris, and completed his Bachelor's degree at Cardiff University in the UK. During his studies, he built a specialisation in employment and climate adaptation policy, writing his thesis on trade union approaches to climate change adaptation whilst working as a research trainee at the European Trade Union Institute in Brussels.
Mr Jones joins Milieu from the International Labour Organization, where he was responsible for communication at their Brussels office and worked on a range of topics including migration, forced labour and social protection. Whilst there he authored a policy brief on green employment and organised a seminar on green jobs in the European Parliament, which featured high-level representatives from NGOs, intergovernmental organisations and the European Commission.
He joined Milieu to work on a project analysing intra-EU labour mobility. Previously, he has done interview-based research on innovation policy for another organisation in Brussels. Mr Jones has strong editing skills, having previously worked as an editor at a Brussels-based magazine and as a proofreader for doctoral candidates at the London School of Economics He has several years' experience teaching English as a foreign language in Paris.
