Karolina Jurkiewicz is a Polish national who joined Milieu in August 2012. Prior to joining Milieu, she was a trainee at the European Commission in DG Environment, under the unit of compliance promotion, governance and legal issues, where she worked on infringements, transposition, implementation and the enforcement of EU environmental law. In 2011, Karolina was an intern in the Polish Embassy in the Netherlands where she was involved in tasks related to the Polish Presidency of the Council of Europe. She also has several years experience in law firms in Poland where she practised mainly civil, administrative and environmental law.
Karolina holds two Master’s Degrees: in Polish law and in European public law. In 2010, she graduated from Wroclaw University, Poland, where she wrote her master’s thesis on 'the right to good governance and speedy trial'. Subsequently, she obtained her second Master's Degree from Tilburg University, the Netherlands where she focused on international and European environmental law, the internal market, governance of the EU, and intellectual property rights. Inspired by the principle of the internal market she wrote her master’s thesis on 'community trademarks'.
