Associate Principal Policy Advisor
Tony Zamparutti has over 20 years experience in policy analysis.
He has managed several studies for the European Commission on topics including ozone-depleting substances, waste management and the Water Framework Directive. Tony co-ordinated Milieu's four-year framework contract to support the European Environment Agency on policy analysis - he worked on topics ranging from regional policy to scenarios of Europe's future environment including a major study on pathways for the countries of the Western Balkans.
Tony has managed ex post policy evaluations and ex ante impact assessments. He has helped European institutions identify policy options to address important gaps, and he has gathered stakeholder proposals via interviews and written questionnaires.
He gained international experience in his seven years as an official of the OECD Environment Directorate, where his work included: environmental financing in the Russian Federation; assessments of donor country support for environmental projects in Eastern Europe; the development of environmental indicators and reporting systems. He also contributed to three OECD environmental performance reviews of Central and Eastern European countries. Tony has collaborated extensively with Milieu on a number of projects over several years. He has also worked as a freelance consultant in Italy where he studied nature conservation as well as environmental conflicts, and edited a web site on salt marsh restoration.
