She is also involved as a national legal expert in various studies with a focus on EU criminal law and fundamental rights.
Prior to joining Milieu, Laura undertook internships at the International Criminal Court and at the Brussels Office of Human Rights Watch, carrying out research and advocacy activities in the field of international criminal law. In 2012, she worked as a human rights researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and coordinated a European Commission project on fundamental rights issues raised by the use of drones.
Laura obtained her Masters degree at Universite Catholique de Louvain and holds an LLM degree in International and European law from the Institute for European Studies. In parallel with her studies, she volunteered at the Global Citizenship Education unit of the Belgian Red Cross, raising young people's consciousness towards global issues of a social, political, economic, or environmental nature and of their role as active citizens.
Since relocating abroad in 2016 Laura has continued to contribute on an ad-hoc basis to Milieu's reports and studies.
