Laura is a Finnish national who joined Milieu in September 2015, having previously gained work experience at the European Commission, an environmental NGO, and at the University of Ediburgh, where she has carried out research on a range of international, European and Chinese law topics.
Laura holds a LLM in Law and Chinese from the University of Edinburgh. During this time she undertook an intensive two-year study programme, gaining an advanced level in Mandarin Chinese and an in-depth understanding of various environmental law topics. She also spent six months in Nankai University, China. The main focus of Laura's legal studies was on international and European climate change law and international economic law. Her LLM thesis on the interplay of climate change regulation and investment protection in investor-State dispute settlements was chosen for publication in the Scottish Centre for International Law under the title ‘Climate Compatible Investment Treaty Law: The Role of Legitimate Expectations’.
At Milieu Laura is involved in legal research and project management of studies relating to Environmental and Climate Change Law and to Financial Markets Regulation
