Jean-Christophe Nicaise Chateau
Jean-Christophe Nicaise Chateau is a French national who joined Milieu as a Legal Advisor in April 2016. His main areas of expertise include financial services and banking regulation, criminal law, internal market and consumer protection.
Jean-Christophe holds a Master's Degree in European litigation from the University of Lille as well as a Master's Degree in Business law and corporate affairs from the University of Montpellier. During his studies, Jean-Christophe particularly specialised on European Law and Business Law. His Master's thesis at the University of Lille particularly dealt with the European standardisation system and the impact of Intellectual Property Rights.
Jean-Christophe has five years of experience in both the public and private sector in Brussels. Prior to joining Milieu, Jean-Christophe spent over two years working as a Legal consultant specialising in evaluating the conformity of national legislation (in France and in Luxembourg) of EU Directives (notably Directives falling under the competence of various Commission Directorate-Generals such as DG FISMA, DG JUST, DG HOME and DG GROW). Jean-Christophe has also conducted surveys in the area of Justice at the request of the European Commission where he focused on the functioning of enforcement proceedings relating to judicial decisions in Member States. In addition, Jean-Christophe also gained professional experience in the field of standardisation at the European Committee for Standardisation as well as experience in the European Parliament where he mainly followed the work of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO).
