Damir Petrović is a qualified lawyer specialising in environmental, climate change and energy issues. He has experience assisting EU institutions, IFIs, private sector and national governments on a number of issues concerning various international, EU, and national legal and policy requirements. This unique past experience enabled him to adeptly manoeuvre among the diverse spectrum of related issues.
More specifically, Damir has practical experience in legal research, analyses, and drafting; in delivering training courses; in carrying out evaluations; and in managing projects. As an example, Damir was engaged, both as a Legal Advisor and a Deputy Project Manager, on the European Commission’s Fitness Check of the EU Nature Directives. The Fitness Check attracted unprecedented attention from relevant stakeholders, media and general public (over 500,000 responses to the Public Consultation alone).
Damir obtained his Law Degree at the University of Sarajevo, BiH and, as a Chevening Scholar, Master degree in Environmental Law and Policy from the University of Kent, UK. He is a national of BiH and Croatia.
