Workshop on discrimination in healthcare
Client: European Parliament
Milieu Ltd supported the Directorate General for Internal Policies of the European Parliament in the organisation of the workshop, “Discrimination in healthcare”. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the challenges faced by discriminated groups in the sector of healthcare and the solutions taken by the EU and its Member States.
The workshop was hosted by Ms Glenis WILLMOTT (MEP) and Mr Alojz PETERLE (MEP), Co-chairs of the Health Working Group within the European Parliament’s Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI).
Milieu Ltd provided logistical support to the European Parliament for the organisation of the workshop. Milieu staff identified and contacted experts with extensive experience in the area of Fundamental Rights applied to healthcare as well as arranged their participation. Milieu staff drafted the press releases for the workshop (both before and after the workshop) as well as the final workshop report.
The first part of the workshop, dedicated to the topic ‘Multiple Discrimination in Healthcare’, allowed professionals and representatives of vulnerable groups to share their experiences in dealing with discrimination. The second half of the workshop, dedicated to the topic ‘Developing policies’, allowed the participants to provide examples of measures that the EU and its Member States have taken to combat discrimination in the sector of healthcare.
