Workshop on “Towards a European Cancer Information System”
Client: European Parliament
Milieu Ltd supported the Directorate General for Internal Policies of the European Parliament in the organisation of the workshop, “Towards a European Cancer Information System”. The workshop was hosted by Mr Andrey KOVATCHEV (MEP), Member of the Committee on Regional Development, who acted as substitute of Ms Glenis WILLMOTT (MEP) and Mr Alojz PETERLE (MEP), Co-chairs of the Health Working Group within the European Parliament’s Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) who were unable to attend.
Milieu Ltd provided logistical support to the European Parliament for the organisation of the workshop. Milieu staff identified and contacted experts with extensive experience in the area of cancer registration systems as well as arranged their participation. Milieu staff drafted the press releases for the workshop (both before and after the workshop) as well as the final workshop report.
By hosting all stakeholders involved in the creation of the European Cancer Information System, this workshop provided a forum for discussions on the progress made so far and the future challenges for the development of a European system, including issues related to the harmonisation and centralisation of cancer data, and data protection.
