Ad hoc report on children with disabilities: targeted violence and hostility (Ireland)
Ad hoc report on children with disabilities: targeted violence and hostility (Belgium)
The project is part of the FRA’s overall work on disability rights under the EU’s monitoring framework for the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It aimed to collect existing evidence on the issue of violence against children with disabilities, including hate crime in the EU and responses to it. Milieu reported on the situation in Ireland and Belgium.
In order to deliver the ad hoc report, Milieu carried out desk research, data collection, legal and policy analysis and consulted stakeholders to identify the way in which the issue of identity-based violence and hostility against children with disabilities is recognised in Ireland and Belgium. Based on the evidence, Milieu analysed how national authorities respond to the issue.
To reflect the findings, Milieu drafted a report which contributes to the EU comparative study prepared by the FRA. It allows the FRA to gain additional insight and to provide evidence-based advice in regard to serious fundamental rights violations, namely violence against children with disabilities in the EU. More information is available on the FRA’s website.
