Active and healthy ageing
Workshop on ‘Active and Healthy Ageing - A challenge for the EU to create age-friendly environments’
Client: European Parliament
Milieu Ltd supported the Directorate General for Internal Policies of the European Parliament in the organisation of the workshop on ‘Active and Healthy Ageing - A challenge for the EU to create age-friendly environments’.
The aim of the workshop was to exchange views on how to face the consequences of an ageing population and to provide input into the on-going policy discussions at the EU-level on active and healthy ageing.
The workshop was hosted by Kartika T. Liotard (MEP), Member of the ENVI Committee and Co-chair of the European Parliament Intergroup on Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity.
Milieu Ltd provided logistical support to the European Parliament for the organisation of the workshop. Milieu staff identified and contacted experts with extensive experience in the area of consumer goods and health as well as arranged their participation.
Milieu staff drafted the press releases for the workshop (both before and after the workshop) and the final workshop report.
The Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union has made healthy ageing across the lifecycle one of their health priorities, and Council Conclusions are expected by the end of 2012. Also, the European Parliament has had a long-standing Intergroup on Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity and is currently drafting a report on this subject.
The workshop was organised in a timely manner to provide experts’ input into the on-going policy discussions.
